Red Mosque

Completed in 1909, the Al Jamiul Alfar Masjid is more commonly referred to as the ‘Red Mosque’ due to its vibrant red and white hue. Originally built by travelling Muslim traders from India, the mosque has become a landmark in the city ensconced in the Pettah Bazaar area.  Although non-Muslims are not permitted to enter, the mosque is a site worth a visit.
